Welcome to Mrs. Turpen's SAM and PCM classes!

Jean Turpen has been teaching in Hereford ISD for 23 years. She has
taught every grade level from Kinder to 8th. She is currently teaching 7th grade Small Animal Management and Practical Concepts in Motion, which are two elective classes.

In SAM students learn about the domestication and benefits of small animals. We focus mainly on animals that students may come into contact with as pets. Students learn about safety and health issues and how to properly take care of a pet. One of the most interesting things students practice is how to do pet CPR.

PCM is a hands-on science STEM class where students learn about the design process. Students will be doing various STEM projects such as toothpick bridges, kites, mazes, shipping containers for a fragile Pringles chip, and even designing a lunar base that would allow people to live on the moon.
